Color Me Neutral!

 Neutral Woo’s, Neutral Woe’s! If you are a designer, you know the hardest set of colours to choose is neutrals, but at the same time we can’t not love the impact that neutral tones bring to a designed space. There are two types of neutrals: you have warm neutrals which consist of creams, beiges, and nude tones. Then there are the cool neutrals that consist of grey and blue tones. Selecting the right neutral tone for your space is really all about the mood you want to set for your space and the lighting. It’s safe to say it doesn’t matter what color, tone or shade you pick, you must test the color temperature lighting in your space against the color.

If you didn’t know before, now you do. Color is to light as the sun is to the sky. One cannot thrive without the other. If you doubt it pick any shade of cool neutral and put it against warm light and you will see the color change to resemble orange tones. That same color against daylight or cool lighting will shine in its truest color tone. Therefore, it stands to reason that the magic of color and lighting can alter the mood of a space. That’s why they call it Neutral Woes!
